“I’m inspired by the ever changing skies over Edinburgh and East Lothian. Using coloured clay slip to capture the light and atmosphere of theses immense skies is contrasted by working on a very small surface area an unglazed bisque tile. Painting up to sixty tiles over one day, allows me to translate the feeling of a ever changing sky into a series of works that aim to visually convey the different light, colour, atmospheres and moods created by the weather in Scotland.”
Working in ceramics, photography and digital collage, Esther’s work captures the moody skies over Edinburgh and East Lothian. Her ceramic hand painted tiles are all unique and feature ceramic transfers of landmarks such as Bass Rock and various local skylines.
