Garvald Edinburgh is a Scottish Charity offering creative opportunities and support for people with disabilities. We are inspired by the ideas of the educator and philosopher, Rudolf Steiner and have been operating in Edinburgh since 1969. Jewellery is one of their new workshops based at Mayfield House.
Garvald Jewellery Workshop
The Jewellery Workshop makes brooches and art work with embroidered wood. Two of the jewellers who have developed this technique are exhibiting work at the Hecla Gallery. Ellen Davison has made a series of brooches inspired by the ‘tree of life’ and birds. Clare Taylor-Wright has created works inspired by the Scottish countryside, in particular landscapes and black faced sheep. The Jewellery Workshop has also developed a collection of porcelain earrings, brooches and bird pendants in collaboration with the Pottery.
