Nicola Turnbull is a jeweller and silversmith, her designs combine both traditional metal work techniques and contemporary materials. A continuing source of inspiration is science, movement and the mathematical patterns of the natural world. Her new Terrella collection made in silver, gold and enamel is informed by geometry and the dancing colours of the northern lights. Terrella is Latin for ‘little earth’. This collections is only available at Hecla Gallery this winter.
Nicola works from her studio at St. Margaret’s House in Meadowbank, Edinburgh. Previous exhibition highlights include the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, Dovecot Studios, Sheffield Institute of Arts, Panogolion London and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. She graduated from Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen with a First class BA Honours in Three Dimensional Design and went on to complete a year’s study at Bishopsland Postgraduate Training Course for Silversmiths and Jewellers, Reading in 2009.
