I love to work with dry point etching, I feel it captures the spontaneous nature of ink over the etched image giving me just the right the balance of spontaneity and control for my style of working. I fell in love with dry point etching during a residency at the Highland Print Studio Inverness in 2007 and have continued working with it since then.
I grew up on a farm on the east coast in the Highlands of Scotland, this played a huge part in helping evoke an active imagination in me from a young age. I still very much value and love the highlands for its inspiring atmospheres and I try to visit there as much as I can. I came south to study animation at the Edinburgh College of Art (graduating in 1999) and continue to work there part time as an art tutor in the animation department. My sources of inspiration have often featured in some shape and form aspects of her unsuspecting friends, family and colleagues – with the odd vegetable in there and quite often myself! Im very keen to create some storybooks based on some of the characters based from my current print collection.
