Sheila Dalgleish is a textile artist based in Edinburgh. Sheila has a lifelong background in textiles, which developed into textile art during the past fifteen years. Her inspiration and great love is landscape, both in the wider, sweeping sense, and also in the small detail. As she travels within the UK and abroad, you will find her with her camera, taking photos of details and aspects others might overlook, which she can incorporate into her work. A geography degree in the 1970s only served to kick start this attraction to the landscape, and Sheila was often more attracted to the diagrams in the text books than the theory….
A key aspect of Sheila’s work is an exuberant use of colour. She aims to find the soul of the places she works with, and to express something of their character without making a copy of a photograph. Each piece of work is her own personal reaction to the landscape she has found.
